The Yorkshire Planetarium is an unusual place. It has a world class Star Theatre but also Yorkshire's first dedicated 3D Theatre.
At the heart of our experience lies the Star Theatre - a circular chamber covered by a giant dome. At its centre sits our Zeiss ZKP4, the only one of its kind in the UK, it has the capability to project a staggering 4000 stars, over 20 deep sky objects, the Milky Way and meteor showers. It can also recreate any night sky within the last 10000 years or in fact the future 10000 years.
Whether you are coming as part of an education visit, a corporate conference or as a Harewood House visitor, the Yorkshire Planetarium offers you a chance to marvel at our galaxy and perhaps, discover a little bit more about our place in Space. From primary schools to University Degree courses, the planetarium is a world class resource staffed by committed communicators. We have developed a number of 1hr and 2hr workshops that have been matched to the national curriculum and can be customised to meet specific needs. We can accommodate school visits for all ages and abilities, and in all of them you can be assured that your class will receive enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff leaving your students inspired and informed. We have been pleased to welcome various groups from Brownies, Cubs, Scouts and Guides to the region's astronomical and special interest clubs. The planetarium itself provides a 70 seat conference facility with dynamic break out opportunities which are distinctive, stylish and memorable. Ample car parking and hospitable ambience are the final touches for a superb event.
